Leah’s commitment to successful outcomes and fair process is unflagging.  She has been a professional neutral, resolution facilitator, and mediator for thirty years.  Working with businesses, government institutions, and non-profits she has achieved more than:

• 1,000 disputes resolved

• 5,000 practitioners trained in dispute resolution strategies

Since 1993, she has taught in Legal Studies at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.  Leah has presented at numerous national and international conferences on issues of fairness in conflict resolution with emphasis on the role and importance of on-line engagement.  She has been instrumental in developing ethical guidelines and standards of practice for online and in-person dispute resolution including collaboration with the Association for Conflict Resolution and the International Mediation Institute.

Leah’s current projects involve dollar valuation of offers in e-commerce conflicts and cross-border commercial online disputes.  Her research on Internet-related conflict strategies funded by the National Science Foundation includes The Fourth Party: Improving Computer-Mediated Deliberation through Cognitive, Social and Emotional Support; Process Families and their Application to Online Dispute Resolution; and Process Technology for Achieving Government Online Dispute Resolution.

Leah has participated since 2011 in the United Nations’ Commission on International Trade Law’s Online Dispute Resolution Working Group.  She serves on the editorial boards of The International Journal of Online Dispute Resolution and Conflict Resolution Quarterly.  Leah has been a two-term Board Member of the Association of Conflict Resolution.
